Remind people before a date
Watch a date stored on a contact and act a set time before or after it — renewals, appointments, trial endings.
Some of the most useful automations have nothing to do with a form arriving. They are about a date getting close: a renewal in 30 days, an appointment tomorrow, a trial ending on Friday.
Setting one up
- 1Create a new automation and choose the date trigger.
- 2Pick which date it watches. That is a date field on your contacts — renewal date, appointment date, whatever you store.
- 3Say how far before or after that date it should run: three days before, on the day, a week after.
- 4Add the steps — usually an email, sometimes a task for your team.
It checks every day and runs for each contact whose date has come around. A contact with no date in that field is simply skipped.
Store the date on the contact from the form itself. If your booking form asks "when would you like to come in?", that answer can fill the contact's appointment date, and the reminder automation takes it from there.
Repeating work
For something that runs on a rhythm rather than off a date — a Monday morning digest, a monthly clean-up — use the recurring trigger instead and set the schedule. The filter row above your automations has a chip for each — "Date and time" and "Repeating".
