Spam protection and duplicate prevention
Enable bot detection, honeypot fields, and duplicate-submission blocking to keep your data clean.
Public forms attract spam bots. Spiceform includes multiple layers of protection to ensure only genuine human responses reach your inbox.
Protection layers
- •Honeypot detection — invisible anti-bot traps that silently discard automated submissions. Enabled by default on all plans.
- •Rate limiting — submissions from the same source are throttled to prevent rapid-fire bot attacks. The limit is configurable in Form Settings.
- •Bot detection — an intelligent background challenge scores each submission to identify automated traffic. Low-confidence submissions are flagged or blocked. Available on Hot plan and above.
- •Duplicate prevention — optionally block repeat submissions from the same respondent using browser-based or field-based detection.
Enabling spam protection
- 1Open the form in the builder and go to Settings → Spam Protection.
- 2Toggle on the protection layers you want: Honeypot, Rate Limit, Bot Detection, and/or Duplicate Block.
- 3For duplicate blocking, choose the method: browser-based (same device) or field-based (same email/phone value).
- 4Save your settings.
Pro tip
The honeypot field has zero impact on user experience — real respondents never see it. It's the easiest, most effective first line of defense.
Important
Aggressive rate limiting may block legitimate users on shared networks (e.g., office Wi-Fi). Start with a generous limit and tighten only if needed.
